Weekly Status Report

One Notion page that rolls up every project's week into a single readable view. Shipped this week, in flight, blocked, next week. The report writes itself from the project data the team already logs. The founder reads it on Monday. No separate reporting ritual.

Weekly reports usually fail because they are a second data-entry job. The ops lead writes what happened on Friday, copies it into Slack, the founder reads it on Sunday. Three steps, all manual. This template is a view, not a new database. The data is already in projects and tasks. The report is a rollup.

No new database. Four saved views on the existing Projects and Tasks databases. Shipped this week filters tasks closed in the last 7 days. In flight filters active tasks with a due date this week. Blocked filters anything sitting in the same stage for 5+ days. Next week filters tasks due in the next 7.

The team logs tasks and projects as normal. Friday afternoon, a scheduled page renders the four views side by side. The founder reads it Monday morning. If something needs escalation, the founder comments on the page, the task owner gets the ping, the thread stays linked to the task.

The first failure is treating the report as a place to write new updates. Comments belong on tasks, not on the report. Fix: the report is read-only for everyone except the commenter.

The second failure is a report full of stale rows because tasks never close. Fix: the Shipped view is tied to a completed property. If nothing completes, the report says so. The signal is honest, not decorated.
